Literacy Analysis Reflection
Prior to researching and analyzing my topics, I wanted to incorporate all styles of writing/reading. I felt that writing about Stacy Barthe would allow my audience to understand that writing isn’t black and white. It can be creating. It can include emotion, personality, and passion. Stacy Barthe is my favorite artist, so I knew a lot about her before beginning this essay; however, I wanted the world to know who she is.
Flynne Meares is my best friend. She is a forty-six year old woman who has a love for life. She is the epitome of a free-spirit. Flynne has done a little bit of everything in her life. She is an inspiration for me because of her positive attitude on life. There will be ups and downs in life. Flynne stresses the importance of going with the flow. Don’t define, or label, everything you do. Simply live. I met Flynne when I was working at Southern Prime Steakhouse, and ever since then, we have been best friends.
My major is Psychology. I am a health and wellness advocate with the intentions of fulfilling a happy and memorable life. I desire to guide people on their journey. I strive to help reorganize people’s thoughts into positive affirmations. More often than not, we fall under self-criticism and judgment. I want to help people strive for happiness, not perfection. (Perfection is a myth, by the way). I wanted to teach my audience that Psychology is an area of flexibility. There are numerous ways to write and read in Psychology, and it’s based on interpretations. Writing about the writings in Psychology shows that literacy is on a spectrum.
Overall, I learned that literacy comes in all forms. It’s a form of self-expression. It’s a form of requirement. It’s just a form of what you want it to be. This knowledge is extremely important because it opens the doors for growth and improvements. Understanding and embracing this knowledge will allow people to expand their world of literacy. Literacy can be anything you want it to be!
